School Fact Sheet

EAGLE'S WINGS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY is a non-denominational Christian school on the north side of Chicago. Beginning in 1981 with the desire to obey God's command to "train up your child in the way that he should go…," the Lord has taken us much further than we ever expected. For the past 24 years we have educated children representing over 125 churches, 70 nationalities and 28 languages. Many of these children are financially needy, with undereducated, under-employed, or non-English speaking parents. A number of parents serve in ministry, are on furlough from the mission field, or are dedicated to lay ministry among the urban immigrant community, while others are members of the business or professional community.  Eagle's Wings opened as Gospel Outreach Christian School in 1981 with 18 students.  The high school was opened in 1988 with a Christ-centered traditional, college preparatory curriculum.

Three students have been admitted to the International Baccalaureate Program from the elementary school.  We have graduated five Illinois State Scholars, three National Merit Commended Scholars, one congressional appointment to the United States Naval Academy, and one commendation for achieving a perfect score on the Air Force entrance exam.

Overall, more than eighty percent of our graduates enter college, graduating to careers in ministry, missions, medicine, education, business, and technology.  Included among our graduates are a doctor, missionary, architect, naval officer (MS in Electrical Engineering and naval aviator), and a Ph.D. in Education Policy; as well as numerous nurses, pastors, teachers, IT professionals, and business owners.

Since 1997 EAGLES' WINGS has been authorized by the Dept. of Homeland Security (formerly INS) to admit and issue documents to international students seeking a student visa to study in the United States. Our international students expand the influence of our mission, enrich the entire educational experience for all of our students, and facilitate the development of a strong ESL program to the community.

Reflecting their commitment to the mission of Christian education, staff members often live sacrificially, earning considerably less than their counterparts in public education.  Our Board is committed to raising teaching and administrative salaries as the Lord opens new channels of donor support.
