school life

Families with elementary students need to know....

TARDY POLICY
Tardiness reflects poorly on the adult whose work habits allow it. Students must learn to overcome life patterns that would allow chronic lateness to become habitual.  Tardiness to school or class is not allowed.  Excessive morning tardiness results in a $5.00 fine per incident.

A BEKA CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

  • K-5    A strong academic Kindergarten curriculum emphasizing phonics and numbers.  Students are able to read simple sentences early in the second semester.
  • 1-6    Children receive strong academic preparation in reading, language skills and math with daily study in science, history, and Bible.
  • 7-8    As above with the addition of Pre-Algebra: Advanced placement to Algebra I is available to qualified 8th graders.
  • All elementary students receive instruction in Bible, Art, Music, Physical Education and Health.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Gym classes include physical training, sports activities and instruction in health education.  Junior high students purchase a uniform for physical education.  Only official gym uniforms may be worn in gym class.  Uniforms and socks must be brought to school freshly laundered every Monday.  Younger students remain in regular school uniform for physical education class.

FUNDRAISING
Fundraising is a necessity in ALL private schools.   All students and parents are expected to participate in all fundraising events.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Eagles’ Wings Christian Academy is a ministry and service to Christian families and their children.  Therefore, parents and staff must work together as a team for each child’s academic, spiritual, and social success.  Parents must oversee attendance, punctuality, and homework.  We strive for open, frequent communication between parents and teachers.  It is understood that parents will monitor the time and content of television, movie, music, and Internet choices made by the student.  We do not expect students in our school to be allowed access to “R” rated movies, music with ungodly lyrics, and unfiltered Internet sites.  The school further relies on parents to see that their child maintains an appropriate bedtime and routinely gets adequate sleep.

PARENT PARTICIPATION
Our Parent Council has set 20 hours Partnership Participation per year as the minimum participation requirement for each family.  All parents either serve, in various capacities and according to their abilities, skills, and interests, or opt to fulfill their Partnership Participation by an additional payment of $10 per unserved hour.  All Parent Participation Hours must be served by June 1st each year.  Hours served after June 1 are credited to the coming school year.

At the present time I will keep Abigail with me at my school because Spanish is her first language and she is learning both. First the enphasis is in Spanish and math and science is in English. However Public Schools lack phonics teaching and practice. but I am looking for after school help in phonics and math in English using Beca curriculum. Plese let me know if you will offer after school. We are available after 2:45-3:00pm. Thank you I will be out of town until 08-07-09
